Experience MORE By Doing Less

As a ministry, we desire to set the example and model what it looks like to experience MORE.
For the month of July, we will be taking a break from writing, planning, and preparing. We want to receive in fullness all that God has for us personally, in our families, in our friendships and in this ministry.
We desire to set aside this month to wait on God, rest in Him and listen to His voice. Sometimes that means setting aside even the good things so that we can experience the better things.
I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for – will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. John 10:9-10 (MSG)
What do we mean by MORE? Here are a few words that come to mind:
- Abundance
- Fullness
- Overflowing
- Satisfying
- Freedom
- Joy
- Peace
- Provision
- Thrive
- Enjoy
We don’t see MORE as the world sees it:
- Busyness
- Long to-do lists
- Financial gain
- Materialism – more stuff
- Accomplishments
- Distractions
- Addictions
- More likes or followers on social media
- Longer email list
- Never enough
Simply put, MORE is about 2 things that matter most:
- Our relationship with God.
- Our relationships with people.
We only have so much time. How are we using it to grow our relationships?
We are encouraging you to join us in focusing on three things (of course, I had to make them rhyme so I could remember them). These are examples of what we could be intentional about for the coming month.
PRAY
- Spend more time with Jesus.
- Enjoy His presence.
- Ask Him questions.
- Get His perspective.
- Worship Him.
- Listen to His voice.
- Read His Word.
- Fast from things that distract – food, phone, Netflix, etc.
- Surrender to his transforming work in your life.
PLAY
- Spend more time doing fun things with your people.
- Do what brings life to you and those you love to be with.
- Climb a mountain.
- Play hide-and-seek.
- Have a tea party.
- Go on walks.
- Enjoy God’s creation.
- Take a trip.
STAY
- Spend more time connecting in relationships.
- Abide, dwell, endure.
- Remain in the coffee shop with a friend getting to know her on a deeper level.
- Stay longer at the kitchen table with our families sharing stories from the past.
- Listen well and laugh a lot.
- Wait alongside your husband for a dream he is pursuing.
- Be present.
Are you like me? I don’t want to miss out! I love keeping up with all that’s going on in YOUR life. I like seeing what you are up to on Facebook. I enjoy reading blogs. We don’t want to miss out, but often that’s what keeps us addicted to lesser things. I know that’s true for me.
Will you join us in putting down our phones, shutting off the TV, setting aside our laptops ... to enjoy God, look people in the eyes, open up our hearts to one another, and receive this fullness of life that God so wants to lavish on us?
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)
Did you catch the first phrase in Ephesians 3:20? “Now to him who is able to do ...” Let’s hand over the reigns of our “to-do’s” and let God, who is more than able, take them one by one and allow him to do the immeasurably more than we could ever imagine.
Just be. Let God do.
