A Journey Paved With Promises
Mar 14, 2019By Nancy Lindgren
I recently came across a well-worn piece of paper in my Bible of a list of promises God has given directly to me and a list of promises that I have given to God. It's a list I've compiled over the past 15 years and one thing is clear: all of God’s promises are “Yes!” and “Amen!” in Jesus.
I believe these promises are true and they are mine to receive. I am fully persuaded that God has power to do what He promises and this fuels my desire to be strengthened in my faith and give glory to God in everything! I have prayed Romans 4:20 literally hundreds of times over these past 15 years!
I've personalized the verse like this:
"Yet Nancy did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God but was strengthened in her faith and gave glory to God being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised." Romans 4:20
It's from my list of "I Will's ..." that I choose to meditate on God's promises to me, and in grateful response, vow my promises back to Him. It started with a few, but now after 15 years, my list is a long precious reminder of God's faithfulness. The most beautiful part is that His promises are unending.
When I looked over this well-worn page, here are a couple of the most simple, yet most profound promises that have become an integral part of my journey.
God's promise: I will go before you. (Isaiah 45:2)
My promise: I will follow. Even when I don’t know where I’m going or when it doesn’t make sense. (Mark 1:17-18, Hebrews 11:8)
In coming weeks, I'll share more from my list, but today I encourage you to begin your own list. Pave your personal journey in promises; listen to God's Word and discover the "Yes!" and "Amen!" in Jesus and let Him ignite your heart to respond.
