Give Me Vision to See Things Like You Do

It’s always fun to see what word God gives us for a new year. For 2024 it’s VISION.
Proverbs 29:18 says “Without revelation people run wild, but one who follows divine instruction will be happy.” (CSB)
We certainly don’t want to be running wild over here at MORE Mentoring, but we are leaning into the new things God is revealing to us and it makes us so happy.
We believe God has given us this special word in 2024 because it’s our 10-year anniversary, and we need His divine instructions to stay confident in moving forward as we look ahead to the next 10 years.
Years ago, when God was planting the seed of this ministry in my heart, I couldn’t see the full picture of how it would all turn out but I knew that He was calling me and that He would show me each step as I daily looked to Him for help and insight. I trusted more in God than knowing the full plan.
What is vision? It’s being able to see. It’s the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom. It’s God given. It’s following those divine instructions day in and day out.
The opposite of vision is being blind. It’s being stuck in our own ideas and plans. We don’t have a sense of where God is leading us and that can be so debilitating.
I have found no greater way for the blinders to come off and for the invisible to be made visible than through the power of the Holy Spirit and through prayer and fasting.
This is how God reveals vision - it helps us see what God sees.
This is how God releases power - it moves His heart and hand.
This is how God restores confidence - it anchors us to His character and to His promises.
When I look at mentoring relationships taking place around the world, I have a vision of:
- Men, women and children transformed by the love of God
- Loneliness, depression and anxiety greatly diminished
- Churches fulfilling their commission to go and make disciples
- Families strengthened and united
- Marriages flourishing
I see hope.
I see revival.
I see Jesus fully experienced.
And that’s what really matters!
I want to keep this prayer on my lips at all times, “God, give me vision to see things like you do.” His ways are so much higher. He is the only One who knows the future and is able to reveal it. God’s vision is worth waiting for.
For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end - it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3 (ESV)
