Make Room for the Miracle

You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. - Psalm 77:14

For several years my husband and I have prayed for a miracle house in the mountains where we can do ministry, a place where people feel closer to God as they experience His beautiful creation around them.

This summer we unexpectedly came across a home that stirred our hearts. It even had a barn, a stream and an amazing view of the mountains  . . .all things I had specifically been asking God to provide.

After touring this house we made an offer, fully believing God was at work. But the weeks to follow were filled with so many twists and turns, hurdles and obstacles that we began to wonder if this was truly God’s will for us.

Our prayer became: “Is this opposition or is this revelation?” We only wanted to do what God was telling us to do, but we had never been on such a wild roller coaster ride. There were days it seemed completely impossible that this home would ever be ours, but God gently whispered in my ears, Make room for the miracle."

Our trust went deeper than it’s ever gone before. It was a daily choice. Do we believe or doubt? Do we lean on the Lord’s understanding or our own? Do we plant our feet on the truth that He is a Waymaker, a Miracle Worker and a Promise Keeper (you can guess which song I was faithfully listening to in this season) or do we believe the lies of the enemy that God won’t work things out?

I definitely didn’t want us turning to unbelief or having a lack of faith because I knew the outcome wouldn’t be good if we did. God does test our faith, and sometimes we need to be stretched in our faith in order to grow in our faith.

And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith. - Matthew 13:58

We ended up quickly selling our house in Denver, believing that God was leading us to this home in the mountains. But our faith was surely tested! About ten days before closing on the new house, my husband and I had a heart to heart conversation about all the obstacles we were facing with this “miracle” house and felt like we had about a 10% chance of purchasing it. Where would we live now? What’s Plan B? But God whispered in my ears, “Make room for the miracle.”

Five days before closing we still hadn’t received the appraisal on the new home, and if it came in way off, it would have been a deal breaker. I reached out to my dear friend, Tolu, and asked her if she wanted to drive up to the house in the mountains and pray over it. She said “yes!”

Tolu is one of the mightiest prayer warriors I know. We sat in our vehicle peering through the trees and prayed in agreement that God would make a way and use this home for His mighty purposes. It was a holy, sacred, powerful God-moment where something seemed to shift in the heavenlies.

At the end of her prayer, Tolu looked at me and said, “I believe you will hear back on the appraisal by 2:00 today.” Guess what time my husband heard back that the appraisal was just fine? It was 1:51 p.m. A true miracle!

We are now living in this miracle house that has been so prayed over, and we can’t wait to see all that God has in store in the days ahead. We also love having visitors so feel free to make a trip out to Colorado to come visit us!

What I have experienced a miracle to be:

- something only God can do

- a display of His power

- not logical

- seems impossible

- doesn’t make sense

- beyond human intervention

- out of my control

- making a way where there seems to be no way

As I have trusted God to make a way, my theme verses for 2020 have been:

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:18-19

What miracle do you need to make room for today? God is still in the business of performing miracles, and He has not forgotten you. His timing is perfect. His way of doing it is unique. Is it time for you to make room for YOUR miracle? Let me know how I can join you in praying for your miracle.

He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. - Job 5:9
