Mobilizer Spotlight - Wendy Holden

May 09, 2024

Tell us more about you!

I'm a wife, and also a mom of boys who are all grown and out of the nest. My heart beats for the local church, and I love being a part of a community that shares Jesus in the everyday-ness of life.

Tell us more of your story as a mobilizer through MORE Mentoring, and what that looked like for you as you started a mentoring ministry in your church community.

Well, I'll tell you one thing, it doesn't happen overnight. Helping women understand the importance of sharing who they are, the powerful message of their lives and stories and enabling them to step out in faith into doing life with one another sometimes is a slow process. Our calling is to live out loud and journey together even if we aren't just alike. The importance is being unified under Christ. MORE Mentoring has given the simplicity and profoundness of prayer-guided mentoring that ties us together.

Share a time that you saw God move through a mentoring relationship.

God moves all the time - sometimes I can see it, sometimes the growth is slow and mysterious. I love seeing young moms gain confidence in the importance of what they are doing; wives honoring their husbands; and families moving towards one another and closer to the Lord. Again, God moving in the everyday mess of life, to me, is the most powerful. Recognizing He is intimately concerned about the little things forces us to know His love for us and just how big that love is.

What is a verse that has been powerful for you as a mobilizer?

This verse gets me choked up every time,"Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." 1 Thess. 2:8

We live the gospel message out in the sharing of our lives. Why? Because we love and delight in those around us - only because He loves and delights in us first.

Wendy has been working at Foothills Bible Church in Littleton, CO since 1998, and she has also faithfully partnered with MORE Mentoring as a mentor and mobilizer. She enjoys seeing kids and adults grow in their faith and learning together as a church family. She's been married to her husband, Marcus, since 1993. What she loves to do the most is spend time with her family – especially her kids, David, Caleb and Jonah.
